A solemn walk among the graves
The lives cut short
By war, by hate
The deadly schisms
Take their toll.
Some died in 1948
Death on its unrelenting march
Not even stopping on 2023,
October 7th
The Lone Soldier
Lonely no more
among Deceased
looking down on us from Heaven
These heroes
Aged 19 and 43, and 21 and 37
They gave their lives
For Israel, for you and me
To walk among the graves
On Mt. Hertzl
The empty bricks
Await more names
More lives cut short
As their souls will rise to Heaven
How many more will have to die
So we could walk among the graves
And fully see and understand
That's the price this nation
Pays for freedom.
