We're in that fortress on a hill

The view is rightfully obstructed,
And what we see is beautiful and ever so tempting.
But we are prisoners, you see,
We're prisoners of this impenetrable fortress.
Our time here will be short,
Nobody lasts long in here.
And soon our time will come
And we will have our last meal, here,
With this obstructed view
A sad reminder that life will go on,
But we will not be here.
The view from where we will be
Will be a thousand times better.
And planet Earth,
illuminated by the sun and moon,
will be revealed to us in all its splendor.
But, it won't be ours to touch, to taste, to feel...
We will be watching from afar, admiring and lusting ever after.
But all of you who stay behind, and many generations after, will have the choice to live or
merely to exist, while passing through this path called Life,
Until your day will come to see the Earth in all its splendor.
